HEROES CON

I’ve been kind of spoiled my entire life. I grew up in San Diego and to have the San Diego Comic Con as your home con, that’s like cheating. I’ve attended conventions all over North America and I’m still partial to San Diego. They just do a great deal right and make it look effortless. That being said, the number one convention that all of my comic proffesional peers talk about is Heroes Convention in Charlotte. At the beginning of the year, I made it a goal to try and attend this year to jumpstart my foray back into comic book self publishing. Well, here we are on the eve of flying out and I feel ill prepared… but not really. I’m going, to have fun and remind myself of what works for the readers and myself at cons. When I first decided to do Skink and Skunk, it was sparked by the seemingly obvious realization that there weren’t enough comic books for young readers and their parents at comic conventions. Don’t get me wrong, I love working on Superman, The Flash, Hawkman and Deathstroke. Or even self publishing Zombie Love, Offspring and Vampyrates, but the younger readers are just so much more into what got me into comic books in the first place. Getting lost in an imaginative story.

So, that being said, here’s to getting back to roots. To start off, I want to concentrate on finishing up these four issues of Skink and Skunk and start sharing them at conventions, starting this month. Heroes Con looks to be the perfect spring board for me to try things out and see how things have changed or stayed the same over the past six years. I think we can make a pretty good read if I dedicate to focusing and finishing what I’ve started with these bad animals on Noah’s Ark. Then onto some Vampyrates and maybe a Zombie Love or two.
